Description

Exploring the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza’s several floors packed with art is fascinating, as it includes masterpieces by European geniuses. The gallery’s nearly one thousand paintings include works by Italian and Flemish artists like Piero della Francesca, Tiziano, Van Eyck, Rubens and Rembrandt. You’ll also find Impressionist paintings by Monet, Degas and Renoir. The Thyssen also houses gems by Van Gogh, Munch or Cezanne. You'll also marvel at the vanguard artists’ pieces of art such as Picasso, Paul Klee, Kandinsky and Chagall.

Located in the Villahermosa Palace, the Thyssen also displays twenty-first-century American paintings. This is a unique and fascinating collection!

  • Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am - 7 pm

  • 24th and 31st December: will be open until 3 pm

  • Closed: 25th December, 1st January and 1st May

You have to exit all rooms 5 minutes before the museum closes.

During Holy Weekn, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum has special hours:

  • Friday 22nd March: til 9 pm
  • Thursday 28th March: til 9 pm
  • Friday 29th March: til 9 pm

On the 12th October, it will be open from 1 - 7 pm. 

Reduced & free entrance

If you're over 65 years old, retired, a student, have the European Youth Card, are a Fine Arts teacher, or have over 33% disability, you can purchase the reduced entrance.

Youth under 18 can also enter the museum for free.

If you have purchased a reduced ticket, you must show proof that you're eligible to buy a reduced ticket at the ticket office and at the main entrance.

The permanent collection is free to visit every Monday from 12 pm until 4 pm. 

Groups

If you're a group of over 6 people, you must buy the tickets directly at the ticket office of the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, so you can get a special discount for groups. 

Temporary exhibitions

With this ticket to the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, you'll also have included access to the art gallery's temporary exhibitions. When making the reservation you'll have to choose the time of entry to the temporary exhibition. Due to the capacity, you'll only be able to enter at the chosen time.
